Tamer Hadi, MD joined the Eye Medical Clinic of Santa Clara Valley after completing his Retina Fellowship at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute (GHEI) at the University of California, Irvine. From 2018 - 2020, he also served as a Clinical Instructor and Staff Physician at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, where he supervised both Ophthalmology residents and medical students. In his final year in Southern California, he was awarded the Resident teaching award given for outstanding dedication to trainee education.
Dr. Hadi earned his combined MD-PhD from the Medical College of Virginia and went on to complete his Ophthalmology Residency at Case Western Reserve University. There, he served as Chief Surgical Resident and was honored, upon graduation, as Resident of the year.
Determined to expand his skillset, Dr. Hadi then pursued fellowship training in Diseases of the Vitreous and Retina at GHEI, gaining broad medical and surgical expertise while helping the most at-risk patients.
His clinical areas of interest include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusion, retinal detachment repair, surgery for macular pathology including epiretinal membrane and macular holes, and management of complex cataracts and secondary intraocular lenses. He has been actively involved in both basic science and clinical research over the years and his work has been published in diverse scientific journals. He is Board Eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hadi is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). Dr. Hadi loves being a doctor and a surgeon. He especially enjoys interacting with patients and helping to preserve and restore vision to help his patients live happier, healthier lives.
Outside of work, he is a husband and father to three young children, and enjoys hiking and spending time at the beach with his family. Together, they love sports of all kinds and working on their family vegetable garden.
